How about J2 Finals & Olympics? Any info out there - especially in the light of the fact that USSA is doing a J2 only (I think) Finals & Olympics?

FYI!!!!
There are no longer JI-II JO's. These have been replaced with Eastern Alpine Championships (still a FIS level event). T/S quota= 5.
JI-II finals are the same . T/S quota =19.

NEW EVENT!!!!! JII Eastern championships ,(USSA event) T/S quota=9.
this race series is a qualifier for JII Nationals.

At present the tri-state qualifing process is the same as it was last year.

Liz,
USSA has created a National Jr II event. I will try and inform you with as much information as I have to date. The Tri-State Fall meeting will finalize any procedures on qualifications, rules and quotas. Three new events will be offered. They are as follows;
1. Jr II Eastern Championships – For JII Competitors Only
Burke, VT February 24-27 ( 2SG, GS, SL). An Eastern quota will be named from this event to Jr II Nationals to be held at Whiteface March 5-11 (GS, SL, SG, DH).
A. Tri-State quota is a total of 9. Named athletes will need to make a choice to either participate at the new Jr II Eastern Championships or decline the spot and continue in the qualifying procedure to the newly created USSA Eastern Alpine Championships (Formally the Junior Olympics see description below).
B. Athletes must commit to or decline their spot to Jr II Eastern Championships at the time of Team selection. If the athlete decides to decline they can continue on to to USSA Eastern Alpine Championship (If they qualify) or Eastern Jr I-II Finals
C. An Eastern quota will be named from this event to Jr II Nationals to be held at Whiteface March 5-11 (GS, SL, SG, DH).
D.
2. Jr I,II, Sr Eastern Alpine Championships – (Formally the Junior Olympics)
March 3-7 at Okemo (DH,SG, GS, SL)
A. Tri-State quota is 5.Open to seniors, JI and JII competitors. Additional Eastern spots will be named from current FIS points and Eastern Cup Scoring. The total field size is 161.
3. Eastern Jr I-II Finals
Sugarloaf, Me. March 8-14 (DH,SG, GS, SL)
The traditional Eastern Jr I-II Finals remains intact. Open to JI and JII competitors. Quota is 19.
Qualification to Jr I-II Eastern Finals, Eastern JII championships and the Eastern Alpine Championships in Tri-State will be based on the same points system as last year. The point system is under review and might be subject to change at the fall meeting. Attending the fall meeting on October 15,2003 (Suffield Academy, CT) could be helpful for information and I encourage participation. I am sure that I will have to update information as rules and quotas are confirmed. USSA made these changes over the spring and summer months. All states are trying to adjust to the new system. Thank you for your patience. Laura Sullivan, Tri-State Administrator.

I had a similar dilema when trying to find out what one of my athletes needed to achieve to make it to finals last year. After much frustration of trying to figure out how ussa / tristate fills these quotas I just looked at the results of past qualifying racers... which tristate has saved on thier website. I hope this was somewhat usefull
