Last year, for the first time to my knowledge, The Vermont Southern Council allowed Tri State to send some of its J4's to a one day Super G camp and race. It was a lot of fun and a great experience for those who went.

Any J4 interested in attending the event this year, need to have their coach submit a recommendation to the Tri State J4 chairman, Andy Maslow. Andy's email is: maslowa@mskcc.org.

Right now, according to the Stratton Mountain website, the scheduled date is Monday, January 26th. However, that might change. I have a suspicion that it might be held Monday February 9th. As soon as I can confirm a final date, I will post it here.

Has there been an update regarding the deadline for submission of coaches recommendations for the JIV Super G Camp and date of the event?

Thanks and Happy (cold) New Year!

Monday January 26 is the date. Nominations will close January 9. Please only nominate athletes that are sure that they will attend and for whom you believe SG training and race would be appropriate.

According to the NYSEF website, there is also a speed camp at GORE on 1/24 and 1/25. IF anyone is interested, they should call NYSEF at 518-946-7001.

Their website is NYSEF (http://www.nysef.org)

For anyone attending the Speed Camp/Race at Stratton Monday, you might want this number. In case the weather forces a re-scheduling, you can call 802-297-4516. If it gets re-scheduled, they will leave a message on that line. They will do their best to leave it early, if they KNOW the race will be moved.

But as always, sometimes the weather can be tricky and unpredictable. As some of you know, cold weather forced it to be delayed a week last year. and it was the right call.

Right now the forecast is for light snow Sunday into Monday. If that changes to HEAVY snow, since it is a SUPER G event, they may move it. Let's hope not. But you might want to call Sunday before heading up.

Apparently they are not going to include the Tri State racers in the results they are posting for the Super G race at Stratton. And I didn't spend alot of time counting. But, from what I could tell, Jay Ogle took first, and Evan Diamond took second.
