For the first time, Tri State will be having a banquet the Saturday night of the J4 Championships. It will be an opportunity for the athletes and families to get to know each other a little better.

Stratton Mountain School will be sponsoring the weekend, and lining up a speaker that I am sure will be entertaining for young and old (I remember when I was on the young side of that phrase!).

This should be a lot of fun for all the participants. We will be posting more information about it as the season approaches. Please look for more details, and encourage J4 athletes and parents to attend.

As soon as the facility is booked for this event, we will post it here. My understanding is that the hall we are looking at also has rooms. We are hoping that by having a dinner, and arranging for discount hotel rooms, all the racers and families will have a fun-filled weekend. Please check back for more details.

For this to be successful, it is going to require the support of the racers and their familes. We are strongly encouraging everyone to attend. And we are asking ALL COACHES to spread the word.

US OLYMPIAN TO SPEAK AT J4 CHAMPIONSHIP BANQUET

The facility is booked! It is the Eastover Resort and Conference Center. They will be hosting the banquet, and have rooms available. Their number is calling 1-800-822-2386, and their website is Eastover Resort and Conference Center (http://www.eastover.com/). Room rates are $50 per person per night for a single, $40 per person per night for double occupany, and $30 per person per night for triple occupancy or more.

Carrie Sheinberg will be the speaker at the banquet. She was on the U.S. National Ski Team from 1991 through 1998. She was the U.S. National Slalom Champion in 1995, and the U.S. National GS Champion in 1997. She represented the U.S. in the 1994 Olympics. She is currently a producer at ESPN.

The awards from Saturday's races will also be presented at the banquet. Please realize that there are over 100 racers being invited to this championship. The facility can hold a maximum of 300 hundred. If you want to go, please make your reservation early.

We are required to give our final numbers to the facility on February 20th. Therefore, to guarantee a spot for your racer and your family, your reservation must be received in the Tri State office by February 19th. There may be tickets available at registration Saturday morning, but that might not happen.

The price they are charging us is $15 per person. And that is the cost to attendees. They are not charging for children 3 and under. Soda will be $1.

This is our first attempt at providing Tri State racers something more than just two days of racing at the Tri State Championships. We are hoping that everyone attends. We are hoping that everyone supports this event!

Dave, this sounds like a great idea. Thanks for arrainging it. Keep in mind though that not everyone is sure whether they will qualify for the Championships. How do we register/what Email address do I use? I will not require the room since I am local.

Each region (Eastern MA, Western MA and CT) has been given informational flyers on how to register for the races and the banquet. Each has said they will be forwarding them to their athletes that qualify.

They will be availble for Western MA at the Eaglebrook race Sunday. I am bringing them.

I also am hoping to arrange to have them "down-loadable" this website.

Thanks!

US OLYMPIAN TO SPEAK AT J4 CHAMPIONSHIP BANQUET
For the first time Tri State has arranged to have a banquet Saturday night of the event. To pull this off, we recruited a sponsor, Stratton Mountain School. They have arranged for one of their Alumni to speak at the event.
Her name is Carrie Sheinberg. She was on the U.S. National Ski Team from 1991 through 1998. She was the U.S. National Slalom Champion in 1995, and the U.S. National GS Champion in 1997. She represented the U.S. in the 1994 Olympics. She is currently a producer at ESPN.
This is our first attempt at giving the athletes more than just two days of racing, and provide an event that allows them (and their parents) to spend a little time together away from the competition. We selected the site because it offers a local banquet facility as well as overnight accommodations.
The banquet is going to be held at the Eastover Resort and Conference Center, in Lenox, Massachusetts. You can make your room reservations by calling 1-800-822-2386. Please mention the Tri State race to receive the pre-arranged room rate. You can also visit their website for more information and directions: http://www.eastover.com/
They can accommodate only up to 300 people for the banquet. With over 100 racers, we anticipate filling the hall. Reservations are on a first-come-first-served basis. There may be a small number of tickets available Saturday at race registration, but there can be no guarantee that space will still be available.
Awards for the Saturday races are going to be presented at the Banquet on Saturday night.
We have attached a reservation sheet for anyone who would like to assure themselves a spot at the banquet. We strongly encourage everyone to take advantage of this reservation method.
PLEASE RECOGNIZE THAT RACE REGISTRATIONS EACH NEED TO GO DIRECTLY TO THE AREA, AND CANNOT BE INCLUDED WITH THE BANQUET RESERVATIONS.

A big thank you to all that helped pull this weekend off! It was great weather, great courses, and most of all great skiing. Look for the results to be posted on the web site this week.

Special thanks to Bousquet and Jiminy Peak for hosting the events. No small tak!

Thanks to Stratton Mountain School for sponsoring the event, organizing our first ever Championship Banquet, and arranging for Carrie Sheinberg to speak. Her message was a great one.

Congrats to all the qualifiers to the Future Stars (to be posted this week).

Congrats to the 3 racers who will represent Tri State in the Whistler Cup Shoot out. Evan Diamond won the boys event with 4 firsts. Adrienne Barrett won the girls with 4 firsts. Christopher Judge placed second for the boys. Chris hiked for a gate in the scond run, and ended up 40th. Guess what! That hike ended up being the tie breaker that got him into the Whistler Cup Shoot Out!

Congrats to all the racers who qualified for the Tri State Championship, and for the efforts they made this weekend!
