Ok... for the past three years I have been trying to further my coaches education however, ussa continually changes the standards. If I re-certify this year it will be my 3rd time getting certified as a club coach.

I don't mind traveling and meeting up with the examiners and learning what's new. As a matter of fact, I think it is quite important. However this will be over $600 spent on the same certification. I need to be educated in tactics and setting for the different disciplines so I can become a better coach... the club coach education does not teach this.

Is anyone else in the same boat as I am?

Jdog,

This is an issue that has been frustrating for many people. The club coaches clinic was great as a starting point, but the slalom, gs and speed clinics are great. I know I am wondering when they are going to post that schedule on the USSA website.

I might be overly optimistic, but I am hoping that the "moving target" that they are creating is an honest attepmt to make things better.

I do have a suggestion. Call Kris at USSA. (435) 647-2647. Or contact them through the USSA website. Give them the details of your situation, and see what they say. I would love you to post it here.

Thanks!

Oh, and Jdog, what the heck are you doing up so early in the morning posting here? Get some sleep man! You need to be rested for the upcoming ski season!

<_<

Unfortunately, when I emailed USSA inquiring about state coaches clinics (GS, SL, Speed), I was informed that there would not be any this year. Very disappointing! Here is a cut and pasted of their response to my email:

Sorry no. Unfortunately, with the change in staff and all the other issues we talked about in the latest issue of American Ski Coach, we are starting slowly and developing quality first. Next year, look for new State clinics.

Thanks for your interest.

I have not had a chance to read the article he referred to yet, but I will take a look at it!
